A few weeks ago I had the honor of photographing my best friend and her gorgeous children for Mother's Day and I couldn't love her images more (check my Facebook & Instagram to see her photos).
So I figured to share our story...
I met Vanessa when I had only been in the US for a little over a year and I remember being so intimidated by her! She was like the girls I grew up watching on TV; gorgeous, funny and the coolest person I had ever met! Picture the main character of a TV show, that was her! She had the BEST style and would light up a room every time she walked in. It was literally love at first sight - from a friends point of view, of course! From club nights and break ups to marriage and motherhood, we have been a part of each other's lives for nearly 18 years.
And in those almost two decades of friendship, while we were still becoming who we were meant to be, we did stop talking to each other for a little while. And when that happened, I felt like I was missing a part of me. I would catch myself grabbing the phone to call her every time something funny happened. She was always the first person that came to my mind when I saw a funny meme, when my days were tough or when I was excited. Have you ever missed someone so much it hurts? It was like going through a breakup! Not having her by my side was so incredibly hard.
But like the saying goes, if it's meant to be it will be! And we are meant to be sisters! I truly believe that we were related in a previous life, I am not kidding!
Vanessa is one of the most selfless people I ever met. She was born to be a mother and has raised three incredible children. She's a devoted wife, the funniest person I know and has so many talents! You need your hair and makeup done? She's your girl! A charcuterie board? She got ya! Planning a party? She will decorate your place like something out of a magazine! Need floral arrangements? She can make a bouquet that will put most florists to shame! Need a book recommendation? She will not disappoint you! And the list goes on and on... She's a gorgeous woman, and if you had the pleasure of meeting her, you know she's even prettier on the inside!
So I wanted to dedicate this blog post to my best friend, the sister that life gave me and the one who my soul can't live without. And I hope, that you too, are lucky enough to have found a soulmate in your best friend. Because I know, without a doubt, that the two of us will be causing trouble together all the way to the nursing home, and I wouldn't want it any other way!
